Getting Down to the Nitty-Gritty, Ladies.

Hi, Ladies: This one is for you!

I avoided backpacking with my husband for a while. Let's face it, it's not the sexiest thing in the world being out in the woods for days, without a shower, and sleeping in your sweat every night. That's the fun of nature, right? After MANY trial and error trips and MANY terrible lessons learned, I finally can backpack without being self-conscious!

Baby wipes will save your life. I don't care if they weigh extra and you're trying to pack light, keeping it clean down there will help avoid having to cut your trip early because of an infection. This will also help keep the stink down and help you freshen up before climbing into the tent at night. This also helps cut back on the toilet paper usage!

Maxi pads instead of underpants. This will cut back on the weight of having to carry multiple pairs of clean underwear. I usually bring two pairs and use maxipads to help keep them cleanish longer!

Be careful about cleansing off in streams or other water sources. Unless it is filtered, you run the chance of getting an infection.

One thing I have learned while out on the trail, the last thing anyone cares about is how you smell. My husband was always just excited to be out and about.. plus, him and I together canceled each other smells out! Being out in the woods is all about letting go and enjoying nature, but sometimes a little comfort of the mind doesn't hurt!

A once stinky,

Back Country Momma
